Welcome back, Saturday Campaign D-I-Y’ers! For those who tune in, welcome to the Nuts & Bolts of a Democratic campaign. Each week, we discuss issues that help drive successful campaigns. If you’ve missed prior diaries, please visit our group or follow Nuts & Bolts Guide.
The Nuts & Bolts guide was originally designed to handle the very basics of campaigns, organizing and activism from the perspectives of people who have done it. The concept was that many people were wanting to start building their activism effort and not only didn’t know where to start, but found that many of the starting programs were far beyond their abilities—so, we worked to come up with a basic guide that over time would handle a lot of issues—but never be so complex that a casual activist would feel lost.
With more than a hundred installments, plus add-ons done in other groups like CUA and the 50 State Strategy, I’ve made an effort to do what we can to give a lot of people the tools to help build better Democratic campaigns and efforts.
There are some subject matters we just can’t cover through Nuts & Bolts, due to their complex nature, and at times, because publishing some of the tools and techniques won’t be helpful for our cause.
So, how do we go beyond Nuts & Bolts? This week, I’m going to address what comes next.
