Is popular vote loser Donald Trump going to fulfill his constitutional duty to “faithfully execute the office of president of the United States” and make sure that the law of the land—the Affordable Care Act—is upheld? Of course not.
While he was supposed to be receiving his daily intelligence briefing in the Oval Office, he was of course tweeting. “Wouldn’t it be great” his fat little fingers typed, “to Repeal the very unfair and unpopular Individual Mandate in ObamaCare and use those savings for further Tax Cuts…..” Then three minutes later—three minutes into his supposed intelligence briefing, the follow up: “….for the Middle Class. The House and Senate should consider ASAP as the process of final approval moves along. Push Biggest Tax Cuts EVER.”
Want to know where that “intelligence briefing” is from? Yeah, you guessed it.

This whole effort to repeal the mandate was floated first Tuesday by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), a suggestion that White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders shot down, saying the White House didn’t believe it needed to be in there.
Meanwhile, the tax cuts bill Trump is rewriting on the fly doesn’t even exist yet. House Republicans are struggling mightily to even come up with a bill. It’s déjà vu all over again, meaning the chances that the House Republicans bring a massive tax cut bill to the floor that no one has read are pretty darned high.
